I start with 400grit, than 600grit and 1000grit

did you use 1000 grit sand paper all the way from begining to end?

How many time or Km the look remain the same?

I usually do this once a year, but last winter I painted the rims with Urethane Clear Coating. They still looks like they did one year ago.
