The Gas Leak

FORT LAUDERDALE - Stranahan High School and several homes had to be evacuated for a short time this morning (April 15, 2009) after a construction accident caused a gas leak, a city official said.

The accident was reported a little after 10 a.m. near Southwest Ninth Street and Riverside Drive, said Matt Little, Fort Lauderdale city spokesman.

Stranahan High, at 1800 SW Fifth Place, was evacuated, but everyone was back in class by 11:30.

No one was injured, Little said.
