Not Nearly 80 feet. A 25 foot fall takes 1.25 seconds almost exactly.

Based on your approximate 2 second drop and the height of those

riverbank trees, your jump is between 38 and 42 feet. Take a piece

of string, tie a red sidewalk chalk to it, lower it until the chalk turns

dark, put gum on the string, then use the tape measure you brought

with you to measure it.

50% of terminal velocity (approx 60 mph) in about 3 seconds

90% (or 108mph) in 8 seconds

99% (118mph) in 15 seconds
