  • thats the wrong way to frame it. the fence will sag in the middle and not be as strong. ALWAYS frame the fence with the 2 x 4 butted on the outside of the post or toe nailed on the inside of the posts. if you toe nail it is best to pre drill the holes into the 2x4 to prevent splitting when you screw it in place. I use a 2 1/2" screw.always have the 4" part of the board facing you up and down as this is the strongest part of the board and your fence will not sag
