This is one of those precious jams that we rarely hear. This occurred during the "Perfect Strangers" era. The amazing "Son of Alerik" happened around the same time. If only Ritchie would release this stuff officially. This was called "COSMIC JAZZ" and serious Blackmore fans have probably heard it.
I am certain there are many of you that have not heard this. This is the kind of material I want released!
Hope you like the video...:) More rare Blackmore soon!

  • This deserved to be officially released. Who knows, they might have made some new fans.

"Cosmic Jazz" is scheduled to be released if the proposed anniversary edition of "Perfect Strangers" materializes. It is supposedly included on the 3CD version due out at some point in the future. There is also another unreleased instrumental scheduled to appear as well called "RIJIR" or somethng spelled similarly.

    What? What about Tommy Bolin?

  • I can't tell if they're mocking jazz, or just trying to play it better than anybody else.

It just shows the incredible dept of Blackmore and Ian Paice. There's a bit of Mclaughlin/Django/Les Paul/J Beck/Jimmy Bryant in there

  • You know... it wasn't just Blackmore. Let's not forget, he was in a pretty good band here! I reckon Jon Lord never gets the raps he deserves... it's always Blackmore and Paice. They were a great band and frankly, Blackmore lost appreciation of that fact.

  • Do you have any studio pics?

Did he track rainbow with a twin?

  • it was ok and still is

  • @thelearningcenter you forgot Tommy Bolin (oh irony of ironies :))

  • Lord and Blackmore are two musicians that can proficiently play jazz, rock, and classical music. They were listening in music class...and understand the mathematics of music theory.

  • @49toonster Mockery? Just blowing away on a tune, jazz like, choppin away the roots, draggin out the melody. Funkin up the beat. Playing.
