@redmav08 Sociopaths may develop in a society where compassion and empathy are not encouraged. If one is cunning and brilliant enough to get away with harming others either for amusement or a means, then why not do it? We harm these bulls for our amusement because we can get away with it and there are no repercussions. More importantly, there is no guilt. I'm not making the common veggie argument that other animals are as valuable as humans; just that violence proliferates violence.

@redmav08 Consider a society in which we teach our children that it is okay to demoralize and celebrate the death of an animal's struggle to survive an impossible situation. While the bull cannot possibly be avenged, the concept remains in the minds of people who associate the bull's meaningless and pointless struggles with that of a human. It isn't too difficult to place yourself or others you know in that situation and devalue the lives of everyone to being just as worthless.

@redmav08 I do, however, see your point. It is quite subjective and I suppose I must provide stronger reasoning. For example, the root of the disagreement can be traced back to there appearing to be no reasoning as to why we should bother caring to be altruistic or considerate to something that could in no way have any repercussions. Yes, there doesn't appear to be anything in it for me to protect the rights of an animal of a different species. I would like to present a different point of view..

@redmav08 None. I personally have been taught at a young age to treat others as I wish to be treated. I'm a vegetarian but I don't intend to act holier than thou or expect to convince anyone to be a vegetarian. I am perfectly content with defending yourself from something that provides a threat and if you need it to survive. It is perfectly reasonable to slaughter in a humane way for sustenance, I have nothing against that.
