RU-486 was discovered by French pharmaceutical company Roussel Uclaf. The codename "RU-486" basically means "Roussel Uclaf four hundred eighty-six." All chemical compounds found by the company are initially given non-descript numerical names like asteroids. Why would a company from France go out of its way to embed in a code name a hidden message in English that doesn't make any sense in French? Sacré bleu! Do some research before spouting off zany conspiracy theories.

I am familiar with the term 'it's 86'd' from working in the restaurant business. It meant we were 'out' of that item.

I think RU 486 is an awesome pill. God bless the makers of this quiet, discreet pill that essentially screws those who wish to enforce their beliefs on someone else's body.

If you care so much about kids go adopt one or be a foster parent and do your good deeds there.

This is a personal decision.

NO. IT'S A BABY WITH FEELINGS. I DON'T CARE IF IT STILL HAS A TAIL. IT MIGHT ONE DAY GROW UP TO BE A BABY ASSUMING IT DOESN'T NATURALLY MISCARRY WHICH HAPPENS IN 50% OF PREGNANCIES ANYWAY.  I hope you didn't go through with it, because a child is the greatest gift a woman can bring into the world. It makes me wonder why women feel that killing your baby is better than giving him/her to a couple who desperately wants one. These days you can take part in choosing the adoptive parents.

That kind of thinking reminds me of men who kill their wife or lovers because they feel that no other man would be good for her.

@OriginalBeast Look at above answer; I hope I don't need to be too redundant, but I'll say it again. The emergency contraception pills (Plan B, morning after pill, Next Choice etc) contains 1.5 mg levonorgestrel, a synthetic progesterone. The high dose prevents conception; whereas RU-486 (Mifepristone) ends conception by blocking progesterone.

Progesterone is vital for maintaining a pregnancy. But as we see with birth control and the morning after pill, progesterone can also prevent pregnancy.

@neillob11 Umm you should probably stay in school too and pay attention in health class. RU-486 is an abortion pill. It makes you have an abortion. Plan-B is the morning after mill. It blocks the sperm from entering the egg.

one of my girlfriends took that pill when she was 19-she had irregular period for up till she had her baby at 26...she said not matter what it was rigth decision...and now im in kind situation that i have to do it same thing-gonna go tomorow-and i hoping everything would be fine...i know it a sin but i would never give baby for adoption and im too young and im not ready to have one...im so sorry -i thinking all week about it-its very taff disicion...its sad, but i choose...
