Waht does loose-eyed mean?
yvettegr 3 years ago
border collies herd using their "eye" (staring) rather than nipping or barking. a strong-eyed dog sometimes gets pulled into the sheep and may not give them enough room and can be difficult to control (I'm used to those!!)
a loose eyed dog like Paige is very easy to control but she may have slightly less power with difficult sheep than a dog with a lot of eye. Time will tell, but she's having fun regardless! :-)

Thought I saw another BC in a pen just on edge of screen at the end.
How long has Paige been training for?
Looks like a natural.
Does the other BC herd as well?

Paige is pretty new to herding. only started her a couple of months ago and she only goes once a week. that farm is my breeder's farm, not mine - though I wish it was!
I have an older (12 years) bc who is now retired but she is the one who is very much like your dog - a LOT of eye, very intense, well-trained (not by me!)
The other bc you see is my breeder's dog - he's extremely talented. Paige is very loose-eyed which I'm not used to, but biddable too, which I'm also not used to! :-)
