  • jimi hendrix was the john entwistle of 6-string.

  • Victor Wooten is the most technically talented bassist, but Entwistle revolutionized the instrument from a strictly rhythmic time-keeper to an instrument with a separate melodic identity. Victor would have had no inspiration to do any of the things that he did without John, and the others that followed him.

Therefore, John Entwistle is the BEST bassist of all time

  • @shomanca Cliff Burton was not overated .. He was amazing what he did ..The kid died at 23 years old

  • @erniesilk18 - damn right

  • @crackmunch entwistle too homie

  • clangy jam in E. Big deal

  • long live JPJ

  • @shomanca You misunderstand me, i said "best bass player in rock n roll history" I never compare bassists of different genres, its the same as comparing apples and oranges. They both taste great, but their to different to compare. I would call Lemmy a bass guitarist of note, being the founder of the first band of the NWOBHM and having a very unique stage presence and sound, while being a very skilled lyricist, hes noteable in my opinion.

  • @bogdanmil for me, Geddy Lee > John Entwistle > Cliff Burton/Steve Harris/Jaco Pastorius/Jack Bruce/Sting/Paul Mccartney

  • @bogdanmil It's his opnion

  • @RedRicky590 yes, Cliff Burton is overrated as well - it often becomes a popularity contest, because people like the band that a certain musician is in

  • @RedRicky590 a lot of people mistakenly call Entwistle's typewriter technique tapping, but it had nothing in common with what Eddie Van Halen and others do. Entwistle was an early innovator in temrs of his trebly tone, and he influenced a lot of others, like Chris Squire and Billy Sheehan (although Sheehan's main influence was Tim Bogert), but none of them claimed he was the best ever. I wouldn't call Lemmy a notable bass player.
