A quick review of Gmote for Android smartphones, demonstrated on a T-Mobile G1.
Gmote is a remote controller which enables you to play media files across a network. You can also use it as a wireless network mouse. For more info about Gmote, see http://www.gmote.org.

Sound level is a bit low. Sorry about that!

  • @eleven38 not sure what you mean by wifi on the pc?? i think you mean wireless?? but no, you just need both devices to be connected to the same network, e.g. PC pluged into wireless router - phone connected to the wifi. its all on the same network

  • its all right you can do alot like play files also control the mouse and type lol i have on my android

  • do i need wifi on pc? or just connected to wifi or can i use usb?

  • when i get an archos 101 tablet i will use this!

  • ive downloaded both gmate and Premotedroid... i want to control my pc with bluetooth but i cant figure out the damn Premotedroid bluetooth setup

  • @dawnspired or you can use this along with bluetooth earphones to get comfy in your bed and set up a movie using the your phone all completely wirelessly... this is assuming u have a decent screen setup to watch movies on opposite ur bed like i do.

  • As an alternative to this you can use the mouse (or touch pad) from your pc/laptop and browse for "media files on your pc"

Besides that you can use the actual keyboard...

  • @dedge12858 aite thanks, because i use verizon for internet, and wireless as well. time to try it once i get it.

  • @aznxboix188

It only works on computers on the same network, but in theory, if you can log into your network remotely, then it might work. Haven't tried it though.

  • @MrChristiano717

Good thinking! But you'd have to install the Gmote server on their machine and it would need to be on the same network.
