Waiting to Begin Again (Chapter 44) (Marathon 2/7)

Hey guys sorry it took so long, my computer is being insanely slow. I'm really sorry but i think this may have to be it for the night. it got really late really quickly. I will finish the marathon tomorrow morning while I watch the parade. sorry about that but this way i give my computer and me a rest lol. I promise there will be many more chapters tomorrow!

"What happened between last night and now?" I asked.
"Well, Jordin and I were out shopping and we were having fun. I was terrified of being recognized, but when some fans approached Jordin and recognized me, they were so nice and all. I realized it wasn't necessarily bad. Plus I got the coolest pair of sneakers."
"I told you it was shoes!" Michael exclaimed.
"Oh we didn't only get shoes," Jordin explained.
"And what are you talking about?" Hayley added.
"Uh nothing... we weren't talking about you or anything," Michael tried to cover.
"Aw it's okay."
"Thanks."
"So I'm gonna go find my dad. Thanks again for taking me Jordin."
"Oh no problem, sweetie. It was fun. We should do it again."
"Definitely, I'll see you all later."
She walked away, and I subconsciously sighed, watching her go. Then I looked around to see everyone staring at me. I cleared my throat and looked down, unsure what to do.
Jordin came over and took my arm leading me to the side. "Listen, be patient. I don't think things with her boyfriend will last much longer," she told me.
"Is it that obvious?"
"Not to her, don't worry."
"Do you think I have a chance?" I asked half hopeful, half dicouraged.
"I don't see why not." She smiled.
"Thanks."
"No problem."
When we walked back, everyone looked at us kind of confused. I took a deep breath and looked at Kevin, but instead of looking at me angrily like I had expected, he was looking at me with a different look in his eyes. I couldn't quite place it, but the closest guess I had was that it was a look of hurt or pain.

{Kevin's P.O.V.}
Later that afternoon, I was walking down the hall thinking. When I had looked at Nick earlier, I really realized how much he liked Hayley, and it made me feel guilty. Sure, I really liked Hayley too, but just thinking that I was one of the things causing my brother pain shot pain through my own chest. I was trying to figure out what to do. I knew it didn't matter right then since Hayley still had a boyfriend, but I think the one thing we all could agree on was that she needed to get rid of him and all his problems sooner rather than later. What then? Even though the thought of hurting Nick hurt me, the thought of giving up, of losing Hayley, seeing Nick date her, hurt me too. And I had no idea which hurt more. God I was so confused.
That's when I heard Hayley scream, obviously frustrated. I hesitated but walked in. She was sitting on the couch, holding and staring at her phone.
"Hey, you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, why would you think I wasn't?"
"Well, I heard you scream just now."
She blushed and looked down. "Uh yeah didn't mean to do that as loudly as I did."
"What happened?"
"It's nothing. It's just Tyler."
"Your boyfriend?" I asked, playing dumb to try to get information.
"Yeah."
"What happened?"
"I'm not sure. He's just being... I don't know... distant. He... he told me before I left that he wasn't sure he was ready for a long distance relationship." She was pacing now. I stood, just kind of in shock that she was telling me all this. "But then he sent me the text saying that he'd do it. And it was fine for awhile, but then he stopped calling and now every time I call he sounds annoyed and he never says he misses me or anything anymore. And when I sent him a text asking him, he just told me to stop hounding him, that I'm not his mother, and that he never thought I'd be the jealous type. I mean the jealous type?! Really?!" She was really worked up now. "I just wanna know what the hell is going on with my boyfriend! And truthfully he's my first real boyfriend, so I don't know much about this stuff. Does this mean he wants to break up? Or maybe it means he already did, like that was his way of doing it. And, Kevin, would you please say something?!" she snapped.
I was brought out of my shocked stat when I heard her start to cry.
