there already is a modesty blaise "remake": it's called my name is modesty: a modesty adventure (2004)... it was directed by scott spiegel and - guess what - produced by tarantino... but it's shit.

But that's the thing: The comic was NOT targeted for the hip, mod Youth readership. It was a early sixties Cold War adventure tale with a unique protagonist. If they would have gone for a more early Sean Connery "From Russia With Love" vibe, it would have appealed to a broader audience, not just flaky teenybopper trendsters who were already moving on to psychedelia and Flower Power by the time this travesty was released.

Very reminiscent of Barbarella in terms of style.

That said, I like the books as they are and they are much darker.....the obvious parallel is the way the Bond books are written compared to how the films were made.
