My XR3. This was filmed with Super 8 film in Elm Park in Nov 1986. The car is a five-speed normally aspirated model. I also took the car on a drag strip for three runs, and also three ten minute runs at Goodwood on a track day. The car spent seven years in the Ford Heritage Centre too at Dagenham. Music is Magic Fly by Space.

  • nice xr 3i had a 1983 silver xr3i bought it in 1993 the floor was rotting,,crap metal they used

  • @100imachristian Most cars of all makes rusted in those days. I'm lucky my two are ok. Mind you one rarely sees water anyway, and the other seems to be holding out well and is under a car cover. I guess it depends how much of their life has been under cover or in storage. Iconic cars though, and only 62 left of the carb ones these days.

  • @Calvertfilm How about the warning light down, second from the left. what is does it mean when it turns on? Didn't get the owner's manual when i bought it.

  • @MafiaGN260 The 5 warnings lights mean (left to right) brakes, washer bottle, oil, radiator, fuel. So to answer your question the 2nd one lights up when the level of the washer bottle water is getting low.

  • I have exactly the same car and modell and i need to REMOVE AND CHANGE the gear knob coz i don't like it nomore. Could anybody plz tell me how it done

  • @MafiaGN260 Just unscrew the gear knob.

Its not metal, its anti corosion materials. Escorts have simply anti corosion: basic primer, primer, layers of color and lacquer. But for example Audi 100 or Audi 80 bodies were zinced. Or we have VW Golf 2 what has very good basic primer with zinc.

It depends how you keep you keep your car, how often you wash it...

  • @DuttyDoogz No. These are cloverleafs. Pepperpots have loads of smaller holes and are wheel covers for steel wheels I believe. Someone will correct me if I'm worng.

  • those pepper pot alloys ??

  • Well I got this car when it was 4 years old in 1986. I'm the second owner. I bought it for £3,600 which was about half the new price.
