"Woven Variations" by Austin Wintory, based on the original score by Austin Wintory from "Journey" produced by thatgamecompany and released on Sony PlayStation3.

This piece, in the form of a miniature cello concerto, takes the music from the game and builds it into a standalone concert work. Performed here by the Golden State Pops Orchestra on April 9th, 2011 in a sneak preview performance, conducted by Austin Wintory and featuring cello soloist Tina Guo (who is also featured in the game's score).

HUGE thank you to the amazing team at SCEA, thatgamecompany, GSPO and Nicky Kraft.

  • Seriously? Something as beautiful and wonderful as this and you're going to overrun the comments with a console war? Just sad!

  • i can´t wait to play this game

  • Can't wait for the game. I'm glad that Austin Wintory is able to maintain his concert music while he works on game scores.

  • Wow!

  • @arwild01 As a Canadian who was born and used to live in us, I can say with experience that USA is a lot less important than some people in USA think. Of course the 360 will do well in it's home country when it has no local competition; there are many gamers who refuse to play any game or platform that isn't from USA. Same problem with most of the sales figures on multiplatform. But I respect your view and would rather not argue it further so I can focus on listening to this masterpiece.

  • @Permafry42 Numbers are hard to come by. Best article I can find is Gamasutra's analysis of the NPD numbers from the "first half" of 2011.

The short of it is... the 360 and PS3 have a much better attach rate than the Wii. So, on average, the typical PS3 owner and 360 owner have many more games then the average Wii owner. Also... there are more 360's in the US than PS3's.... so in terms of software sales... Also, look for sales numbers on nerely any cross platform title.

  • @arwild01 those are all good points but they don't really answer my question. I'm not dismissing 360; I just don't see what exactly makes it own the generation. I'm not a fanboy either (I own all current gen consoles, pc, ds, psp, and 3ds) but my main problem with 360 is it tries to do a bit of everything but IMO doesn't do anything better than the competition.

  • @Permafry42 One more point... the 360 success relative to the PS3 is US-centric phenomenon, but most of us here in the US don't look past our borders. Also, as has been pointed out by @ign on Podcast Beyond numerous times... the PS3 launched well after the 360. If you were to put them on the same timeline the PS3 sales are actually ahead of the 360 relative to their respective launch dates.... but most people don't realize this. All that said, it's naive to dismiss the 360 out of hand.
