My bike is a clone of Easy Racer's Tour Easy. I found full PDF plans on the internet in 2004. It required two road bike frames, brazing rod, an oxy-acetylene torch, and miscellaneous hardware. Riding a recumbent eliminates neck strain and wrist pain that come with a road bike. Quite fun!

  • hey buddy, we just built one very simalar to yours. but we are having trouble getting a good brake.did you encounter this problem, it seems the cable is so long there is leveridge on it hence strchting.??

  • @BANGERS68 I bought V-brakes from Gaerlen. It was tricky to braze on the posts. The fronts work really well. I put the rear posts right in the path of the chain, though. Dumb mistake on my part. So, I'm just getting by with front brakes.

  • Did you use electrical conduct to lengthen the frame?

  • @candr Good question. No, I used 4130 steel tubing from a local aircraft supply house. Conduit gives off nasty fumes when heated and doesn't have much strength to offer. I did, however, use a conduit bender for the little upsweep by the back wheel.

  • Hey i wasted all summer building this damn thing and it doesn't work your instructions are totally useless it fell apart in the middle of a busy intersection and i got ran over by a bus but thank goodness for physiotherapy i will be out of the hospital by the end of the week i can only walk sideways now gonna try building this one more time it better work!

  • Well, I give you +5 points for humor, but -3 points for bad grammar. Good luck on your quest, brave knight! Come see us again after you face the peril!

  • nice

  • @ColoradoDemings you should never breath the fumes from ANYTHING that you are welding, but to get a good weld with conduit, grind the zinc off with a grinder. Its not very thick, and comes right off.

  • Nice job!

  • Yeah knew about the danger of the fumes, built mine useing some ideas from the "Mother Earth News", which uses a few short cuts on material. Still got it but needs to be cleaned up a little and probably new chain and brake cables.

  • Built something like this about 15 years ago, neighborhood kids would always come out and ride with me. Not the easiest thing to ride (at first) or build, but fun all the same. Used a light plastic chair for the seat.

  • finally, i gooooooooot one
