This is when open-wheel was awesome. Look at the stands: No empty seats.
It's hard to go to an open-wheel race in the US, outside of Indy, where there aren't entire sections of empty bleachers. The greedy team owners and greedy promoters took a great sport and ruined it. Hopefully, it can get back to the earlier days when it was the premier racing series in the US.

The Lola Chassis are beautiful. Both the Valvoline and Kraco cars are two of the most amazing looking racing cars in history to me...

This was great racing. You don't need the whole field to be all in a pack to have an exciting finish. This is great racing just two awesome drivers going for the win at the end of 500 miles. just like the michigan 500 when andretti and montoya were battling it out.
