Good job you made fire you just needed more stuff to burn.

After watching your video I was inspired to try this myself. I learned that if you collect your magnesium shavings on a broad leaf you can make a nice little pile to put in the bottom of your hole. Place a small amount of pinestraw over your pile and you'll get a hearty fire with only a couple strikes of the flint. Have you checked into making a penny alchol stove? All you need are 2 aluminum cans, a thumbtack, a penny and some fuel. A 12 ounce bottle of "HEET" will fuel the stove for hours

why do you waste your knife (probably the most needed survival tool) by striking the cutting edge to the magnesium block? that's ridiculous. even for a tutorial at home

I heard dryer lint smeared with Vaseline???

oxygen supports combustion so i would just make pile of leaves, sawdust, a little bit of gunpowder, and the magnesium. then use the back of the knife to strike the flint and pull back. barely breath if it's going out and just add kindling

nice shovel bro
Next time keep your knife stationary and pull the fire steel back towards you. You're just putting the fire out by hitting it with your knife. Hope that makes sense...

Hey give him a break he even says he working on his survival skills he didn't say he was an expert instead of bashing him give him some tips on what to do better. Yeah and you can mix a little carmex with the dryer lint and it'll burn longer but you have to have some good kindling to catch fire. Keep it up man practice makes perfect.
