Congrats for being a father! I vaguely remember seeing this game once a long time ago. The graphics and some of the animations honestly look pretty good for their day and age, but overall the game looks pretty awful. The kick animation is especially hilarious.

Nice review, you pretty much summed up my feelings for this game. I actually use to have this PCB but got rid of it for the reasons you mentioned. The graphics are decent but the gameplay suffers. I still love Taito but when you compare this to the vastly superior Cadash which was released only one year later, well yeah. Sly Spy is another board I had and got rid of, kind of reminded me of a cross between Rolling Thunder and Bad Dudes.

Loved this as a kid. The graphics used to be SO good. Superman and the enemies' death animations were great. Now the game is pretty bad...

I loved this game as a kid too, that music was too hype at the time. But yeah, definitely doesn't look timeless gameplay wise :(
