What a great champion Thorpe was. It's such a pity that he won't be there in China this summer to defend his titles. Without question one of the greatest swimmers in history. Ian - we miss you!

this was the only race Thorpe won from Van den Hoogenband. Van den Hoogenband won 100m freestyle in 2 olympics. He's the King on the King's distance. Thorpe was never even close.
