A treat for the grandsons on a steam train to Scarborough.
Oh! what a disapointment when the train arrived headed by a class 47.
Leander had failed at York even before it had set off. All thepassengers were very dissapointed and many causing a fuss on the train. The waiting rail enthusiasts at all the stations and bridges along the line with their cameras ready were also visibly disappointed.
The 47 seemed ever so slow and after Leeds it pulled into a siding and stopped, my grandson said " Oh no! not this broken also?" and promptly went to sleep on the seats. Then after about 20mins, what went past us? 'Scots Guardsman' 45116. as soon as it coupled onto the train we set off & travelled at speed up to York. (Sorry about the shaky camera work - 1st time attempt at it)
I took a pic. of the Scarborough signal gantry before they remove it in a couple of months time.
Had a lovely day at the seaside with the street entertainers too, apart from the steep hill back up to the station (its a killer).
I got a bit better with my camera out of the window on the way back until my memory card was full! (I have later cut bits out for this vid.)
Notice the flat wheel on our carraige, it needs changing!
thanks for sharing out train ride.
