Funky Fables: The Wizard of Oz (Opening Titles)

For some reason the video and audio are not as good on YouTube as the file I uploaded. No idea why...

This is a video I've been trying to capture from VHS for a long time with many hit-and-misses, mostly being that I can't get it to capture at the right size. The size I've been able to capture at is too small for DVD, but just right for YouTube...

This is an anime that took a humorous slant at the OZ story.

Wasn't there another anime that was probably the most faithful to the original story than any other adaption?

You're right on that But on the Toei production I've noitced that at the scene where Dorothy "arrived" in Oz she was met by the Good Witch of the North & a group of Munchkins that look more like linebackers for a NFL football team (in height) that could squish The Lollypop Guild like a bug! Also in this version of The Wizard Of Oz, Toto looks like he has a new hair do that look similar to the same hair style worn by Sam the Sheep Dog from Looney Toons.

There were two in particular that remained very close to the book; one was a feature-length movie that starred (in this country) Aileen Quinn as Dorothy Gale and Lorne Greene as the Wizard.

The other was a T.V. series which itself was pared down to a very good movie-length video narrated by Margot Kidder.

Wow, the Tin Woodsman is as fat in this as Strasheela is in most of the Russian versions.
