How to make soap - Trace

Many of our customers have asked us to make a video to show what 'trace' looks like when making cold process soap.

I made a batch of tallow, coconut, olive oils soap and made this video of the mixing. Unfortunately, the tallow I purchased contained citric acid. Citric Acid neutralizes lye, so it makes it difficult to make soap. I did get it to a light trace after about ten minutes with a commercial emulsion mixer.

I will make more videos later with easier to work with oils and in much better lighting. This video was made in our warehouse.

Isn't that pot full of lye??? If you try this yourself, I'm thinkin' open toed shoes may not be the best choice of footwear.
