Many of our customers have asked us to make a video to show what 'trace' looks like when making cold process soap.

I made a batch of tallow, coconut, olive oils soap and made this video of the mixing. Unfortunately, the tallow I purchased contained citric acid. Citric Acid neutralizes lye, so it makes it difficult to make soap. I did get it to a light trace after about ten minutes with a commercial emulsion mixer.

I will make more videos later with easier to work with oils and in much better lighting. This video was made in our warehouse.

  • Isn't that pot full of lye??? If you try this yourself, I'm thinkin' open toed shoes may not be the best choice of footwear.
