Extra Stage
Touhou Fuumaroku: Story of Eastern Wind is an updated remake of the second Touhou game, Story of Eastern Wonderland. The "Extra" Stage is actually a brand new stage - the original Extra Stage is now called Yukkuri Stage.
This stage, I'm playing Suika, who's equivalent to the slow, forward-focus oriented Reimu of the original. Her forward damage focus on bossees is by far her strong point, which makes her better suited for Extra as opposed to normal gameplay... and because of reasons I'll cover later, a bad choice for Yukkuri too.
I feel it necessary to point out that this stage is programmed batshit ridiculously. 95% of the rest of the game runs the same regardless of any FPS drops, but several sections (ESPECIALLY on the boss) of Extra stage run on a frame count as opposed to a time count - and as said before, the game still runs at full speed on on reduced framerate... meaning some attacks actually become easier. Plus, Suika still outputs damage at (maybe a bit less than) normal rate, but bullets aren't always fired as fast. Normally, lag is a pure disadvantage because it's harder to track bullet paths and move accurately... but sometimes it's not.
Breakdown (With whether the lag is Good or Bad):
Opening (Bad): The star enemies, when lagged, will not always die to Suika even at full power. This is due to an apparently odd hit detection for bullets when lagged, or something. But it causes problems. Either way, first bomb is deliberate, to max out Power and collect as many point items as I can - score potential (And extra lives from it) is huge this stage!
Large Fairy (Both - Good): The rate of fire from the mini-boss fairy is decreased a bit when lagged.
Phase 2 (Bad): Lag causes me to not kill a lot of stuff I could have and leads to a death.
Shizuha Aki and Minoru Aki (Good): Wait, it's not Autumn! ...Or is it? Well, anyway, they're a pain, but lag reduces their firing rate a bit. Bombs start at the user and radiate out, and do damage once they pass a target - so you do more damage by bombing close or right between em. And they run if you take too long. Might as well bomb, as they drop bombs anyway!
Final (Bad): Once again, lag causes me to be unable to destroy the blue starfish waves properly due to their speed.
So who's the boss...? Well... 8D
