@JustAKidFromOhio14 that was a theory proposed by social theorist george gerbner that studied television for 30 years and deduced that people exaggerate the condition of the world due to the images they witness on TV.

That really does describe something. It shows how some people who watch TV get the "Mean World Syndrome", meaning they look at the world as overly dangerous and unsafe besides what is the reality. Google it and read something about it!
