@imstillworkin Good job, 1 small word of advice, scan or make copies of all the bank safe deposit box documents. I worked for a large bank. Most banks aren't as prepared as they should be. They may imply Fort Knox but DO NOT BELIEVE IT!. Also you may not gain access when needed. In a Katrina like disaster you have a better than 50% chance of losing your box no matter what the bank tells you!. Once documents are duplicated to a computer, then copy to an external hard drive and/or data DVD.

I think I'm OK. Home is paid for, Got laid off from JOB 2 years ago & now work online & have a residual income. This is an exercise everyone should go over in their mind every 6 months or so & update with friends & family so they know what to expect, know where you'll go & how to contact you if a disaster does happen. For most the real disaster is being unprepared. Yea there are some things you can't prepare for. But the better prepared you are the happier you'll be.

Hmm well I don't have much, which in this case maybe a good thing. I rent, I have a used car and some savings. Just graduated with Bachelor Degree, but I'm not sure if that translates to money, which I would need in this situation. I know how to sew, work a computer and communicate well with the public--. I think this could pull me through people gone need clothes sewn, I could put out ads via computer and maybe even teach people how to sew for a small fee.& With my in degree public health...

As an over the road truck driver, I'm rarely home. The truck is like a mini RV with full bed and accouterments. Some trucks are better than others and I only speak of the standard factory models.
Should something of this nature happen, my company knows that I have little ties @ home and I am "flexible" enough to get tasks done that need done.
Not having just one local & not having all the trucks @ 1 location gives me security.
Other than the nature of the job, I'm fairly well set.

I'm only middle income but I've lived wisely. All I'd have to do is grab my purse. The house is paid for and I have enough money to rent somewhere else until one of my tenants moves out. I have five other houses that are paid for. I have a boat to get me out of here, all the important documents in a safe deposit box at the bank and all my photos have been scanned on the computer. I have enough food stored in the garage to last me 3 years. The way to get ahead is to always think ahead.
