A few years ago I had a lot of spare time on my hands and asked myself the question "How would a particular director shoot a character making a cup of tea?" I made a shortlist of 10 directors who I felt had particular traits and styles across their oeuvre that I could most easily replicate.
The Shortlist was:
1. Martin Scorsese
2. Quentin Tarantino
3. Francis Ford Coppolla (not made)
4. Alfred Hitchcock
5. Stanley Kubrick
6. Steven Spielberg (not made)
7. Nicolas Roeg (not made - gutted)
8. Sergio Leone (not made)
9. Jean-Pierre Jenuet (not made)
10. Darren Aronofsky
I only got around to making 5 of these in no particular order. I know is a massive generalisation (at best, insult at worst) to try and sum up the body of work of a director in a few measly takes like this, so any hate/what you would have done better/comments/remakes would be appreciated, and if anyone else would like to make the missing ones, please go ahead!
Cup of Tea #1 - Martin Scorsese
So, this starts out with a red and blue credits (as in Last Temptation of Christ I think?) and short clips of various household objects to set the environment, which isn't necessarily a Martin Scorsese trait, but is one he has used. Then we have a side tracking shot (Taxi Driver) introducing the character (Vest and Shorts - Mean Streets) with the music, obvious for any Scorsese fan.
Then we have a couple of panning whilst rotating shots (Scorsese staple - I used these a lot here) and an up close head shot whilst walking (Mean Streets) the colour went funny here due to poor lighting, but I kept it as is reminiscent of the hard red light used in Mean Streets. Then the second part is mainly just a reference to the Taxi Driver Alka Seltzer scene, with a few more panning rotating shots.
Ends with applause (Mean Streets)
awesome video man, btw, was that a chris jericho mug i spotted (the one with the guy with his arms out) ill buy it from you. :)

It's actually merchandise from the early 90s British TV Comedy "Bottom". That's a silhouette of Rik Mayall, not Chris Jericho
