Thalion has been having anxiety attacks that are quite puzzling. It is like severe storm phobia without the storm.

  • Most of the responders to this video may not know Greyhounds. My retired racing Greyhound suffers from what would would be deemed 'moderate' anxiety - and it looks exactly like this. So yes, in most breeds, this is simply panting. In Greyhounds, though, this behavior is another story.

  • LOL to the comments from non-greyhound owners.

  • @CandyMatthews That's not completely true. My dog (Boxer) gets anxious when we walk into the pet store & she'll start panting. & She usually never pants unless we've been playing hard

  • Panting in any dog that has not been playing is a sign of anxiety (or dehydration). This is not a well known fact. If any dog you don't own is panting for no reason, drooling a lot, or putting their head down you should use caution. Try increasing the amount of fresh cool water available to her. The vet clinic I work for has has seen good progress using thundershirts when you do find out what is causing this problem. Good luck!

  • Try rubbing his chest in a circular motion (below the collar not on his back), it is soothing to a dog and helps them relax. My Italian Greyhound used to just stand and shiver quite a bit until I started doing this from time to time. Certain sounds can make a dog stressed as well as weather. Rule out health problems before you consider anti anxiety medication. I had a cat that did very well on the anti anxiety medication, but I only used it when he was stressed out. Good luck to you and Thalion

  • My big girl grey is terrified of wind and storms. She stands in the kitchen looking just like Thalion. At first glance, she looks fine. When you get to know her, you realize the poor dog is near panic. Oddly enough, taking her for a car ride or a walk in the weather calms her down.

  • what a load of shit, this grey shows no signs of anxiety,..his behavior is nothing to except panting after a bit of play..and i do know greyhounds behavior..this is nothing...

  • This looks and sounds like my grey during a thunderstorm...if there's no storm coming you'll have to keep investigating, another animal or children threatening, or a bug! My hound is overly fearful of fly's in left alone with a fly in the house, I could come home to that scene also. They don't have alot of haircover so may be fearful of being bitten.

  • "anxiety" lol

I guess it was only a matter of time we made the jump from over-medicating our children to over-medicating our dogs.

  • That dog is panting. Usually anxiety attacks have something to do with the inverted sneezing, but that's not the case here. that dog is panting.
