I think its because American dancers tend to be perfectionists. Also, I think it's a case of not wanting to screw up someone else's culture; a matter of respect to the art and culture.

Wow, this is a very luscious and eye-popping performance. She's so expressive. So far, watching the American belly dancers has been more fulfilling than watching the Middle-Eastern belly dancers. I wonder why that is.
