Spend way less with The Bucket Garden and with even better results for organic vegetables. He is taking the best of hydroponics gardening, organic gardening and has wrapped it up in a high bred container garden. Ted Hallett, The Garden Master
Re: The people who act as if upside down growing is "wrong/plants don't like it/not supposed to/etc.".... um... you're all fear-based and/or insecure nitwits.
For NORMAL PEOPLE who don't want to fondle their plants for hours a day to prop them up, and who just want some VEGGIES TO EAT, this method is a no-hassle method of growing. Get lots of fruits & veggies without the rot and pests from plants festering on the ground. Be DARING! Try it for $1.50.
2 litre bottle appears to serve two purposes. First, t stop the soil from coming through the hole once the bucket is hung. Second, to guide the tomato stem away from sharp edge of the hole. I think it's pretty ingenious as far as the second purpose is concerned. First one is probably unnecessary as roots will hold the soil pretty tightly. I was told to let the tomatoes establish for a week or so the right side up before hanging just for that reason.
I went to a lecture on tomatoes. You can use very little soil if you choose "determinant" rather than "indeterminant" variety. That's the type of tomatoes the lecturer recommended.
there is no way that tomato has enough soil to survive, Tomatoes are extremely soil needy... why are we stressing plants to grow opposite the direction they are supposed to?
I agree! What's the purpose of the 2-liter bottle?? And, removing ALL the soil from the roots is a no-no as well. A better way would be to drill a hole big enough to fit the root ball thru. Then, cut a slit to the middle of a sponge, removing a small portion in the middle for the neck of the plant, and reach in the bucket and gently slide it around the stem.and position it over the hole. The filled soil will keep it in place and the soft sponge will also allow for stem growth.
say the video is great but you have some scumbag nea ads running, which represent scumbag unions that are lying and saying they represent kids and that christie is bad, who is trying to balance the budget....turn the fucking ad off it sucks horribly...
@boxa888 if the mirror is outdoors anyways, I wouldn't be concerned about a bit of dirty water. For $1 you can get a reflective "emergency blanket" and wash it off when it gets dirty
