Judy Garland at the Golden Globe Awards, March 16, 1961, Beverly Hilton Hotel, Los Angeles, California conversing with Greer Garson and Polly Bergen. I interlaced the clips with photos of Judy that are hard to come by ... & added graphic overlay to them. The audio is Judy singing 'Wish You Were Here' from 'The Bing Crosby General Electric Program', October 30,1952.
Words and music by Harold J. Rome, 1952

They're not making the skies as blue this year
Wish you were here
As blue as they used to when you were near
Wish you were here
And the mornings don't seem as new
Brand new as they did with you
Wish you were here
Wish you were here
Wish you were here
Someone's painting the leaves all wrong this year
Wish you were here
And why did the birds change their song this year
Wish you were here
They're not shining the stars as bright
They've stolen the joy from the night
Wish you were here
Wish you were here
Wish you were here
They're not shining the stars as bright
They've stolen the joy from the night
Wish you were here
Wish you were here
Wish you were here

  • Was this when she got the Cecil B. Demille award?

  • @bbath7 This was the same year that Greer Garson won as Best Actress for 'Sunrise At Campobello'.

  • I miss Judy. She would have been 88 this year but her sound never goes out of style.

  • @SwingBandHeaven I can only decipher Polly's first two words: "A special." Polly was married to one of Judy's new managers, Freddie Fields. Also, Valley of the Dolls author Jackie Susann was married to the producer of Polly's TV show. And so a lot of inside information about Judy was put into Valley, the Neely character being Judy.

  • Judy never looked more beautiful- thanks so much for posting Judy will always be the Greatest Enteretainer we ever had ~

  • Wouldn't it be great if someone who could lip read could tell us what Greer and Polly are saying to Judy. The view of their mouths is unimpeded so it should be possible.

  • Lovely to see and hear ... thank you !

  • Excellent !!!!!!

  • I saw this show at the Casino Theatre in London and there was a swimming pool on the Stage!
