After breaking the story on the Chinatown Banksy (reported here first), we decided to visit both Chinatown and The Mission to document people and their reaction to the most infamous street artist of all time. Shot the first day of public viewing, the walls still smelled sweetly of spray paint, stencil tack, and enamel.

The woman who worked at the bakery on this corner was told that it will be removed by Tuesday the 27th of April 2010. Catch it while you can.

Hope you enjoy...

  • i love banksy and his art but the people interviewed here are really not worth anyone's time.. bunch of smug san fransisco wannabe artistic mediocres. and yes, i am quite mediocre as well that's why i would refuse to assume i was important enough to be interviewed about banksy, even though i have his books, seen his work and movie, and am a fan of his work.

  • @Serial520 lots of non-artsy fucks like banksy, and he's not one himself. so shut the fuck up, you think you are somehow pure, just because you were raised by a drunk and got into a few fights and slept in your car and sprayed some shit on walls. banksy is a true artist, original and talented, liked by all not just snobs, and you are just a hating loser. go watch exit thru the gift shop and educate yourself on how banksy feels about fake shit, he knows whats up. check out mr brainwash.

  • @moy6bandit the black guy was just talking about himself instead of banksy, and pompously talking about how he knew about banksy before the rest. like anyone cares..

  • @dav1disradical what the hell is your problem? sounds like you are just jealous of banksy. Take a look at shepard fairey if you wanna see someone commercialize. Banksy did it very elegantly through the creation of mr brainswash, and i don't see how anything is ruined by either banksy, or people liking hi art

  • @cauterful it's about doing it first, the conception not the production, and besides, banksy is also a talented artist outside of stenciling. or did you not see some of his painted work, or his bristol city museum show? it's about the idea, not how to carry it out. Any idiot can press a button on a spray can, but only banksy knows where to put the spray can.

  • @darkslide327 I have made them, thats why I wrote my comment. idiot. I just don't go around bragging about how cool it is that I cut a dumb stencil.

  • @cauterful then try it man. try to make a stencil as complex as banksy's

  • @darkslide327 they are not that hard to make. unless your an idiot, then its hard to cut a stencil.

  • team robbo

  • @MrBuddyCarl how would you know?? there's an endless amount of banksy copycats out there now that he's a fucking sellout. to all those saying we act "pretentious": banksy basically ruined the street art and graffiti subculture because you faggots thought his art was "cool" or whatever. pay attention to others art, there's tons out there, not just fucking banksy.
