The abuse of prescription drugs is quickly becoming an epidemic. They're easy to get and simple to distribute. Gone are the days when people need to go to a seedy street corner to get high. Now, they just need to go to a medicine cabinet or visit the doctor.

While many communities are just beginning to figure out how to handle this legal drug problem, anti-drug groups in Tennessee have had a head start. For years, Tennessee held the unwanted distinction as the nations top state for prescription drug abuse. That is changing, thanks to hard work and cooperation.

The people from Tennessee will share their experiences during this hour-long MCTFT broadcast. There will be no expert panel discussion, just advice from the people in the field.

Learn how citizens in Tennessee discovered the problem and took control. Hear from coalition leaders, law enforcement, doctors, pharmacists, insurance executives, and others. See what they did so you can bring it into your own communities.

Learning Objectives:

See how anti-drug groups in Tennessee discovered the prescription drug problem
Find out how cooperation is making a difference
Learn what law enforcement officers are seeing and how they are adapting to the new drug problems
Hear how health care providers are trying to protect themselves and their patients

  • Awareness is one thing, however, prohibiting those who are in terrible or terminal pain from legitmately aquiring the drugs may be the result of the sort of hypervigilance that is becoming more common in the popular media.

    Thanks for this informative posting.

  • I wish they had a documentary on vicodin

  • The header "Learning Objectives" in the desscription says it all. Awareness ok, but they demonize drugs in general, by leaving out the brand name and comparison to what's the safe prescribed dosage. It doesn't help a documentary to blend tons of pills in front of the interviewed persons.

  • hello 240p!

  • @bigtaxdizzle no problem whatsoever...untill...they are gone... :(

  • I've abused a great deal of stimulants but as I grew older I have taken to ordering sedatives and opiates and in moderate amounts with a nice collection of bud. I abstained wholly but through several injuries etc. I gathered a taste for Tramadol and discovering plenty of Xans which coincided with my desire to abuse them to the point where I suffered 36 hours of terrible withdrawal that I mostly was forced to endure @ work. I'm having another go with attempts to exercise A LOT of self control.hmm

  • @Tojokerforyou weird... that only happens once every 365 times... and with the amount of people on youtube thats probably several times each second... what a coincidence
