Thank you for sharing your knowledge of knife making.
I am interested to know more about the whole process from start to finish.
Details like choosing the right metal and shaping the blade through the different stages.
If you can recommend any resources that would be great.

@sinkingrob11 The way I set it up, the garbage can isn't directly touching the hot coals. I have a steel pan hanging from four screws. The pan has holes in the bottom where the air is fed up through a hollowed out coffee can. The can has taken quite a few hot fires and works great still! Thanks for watching!

The best metal for this work is an old file. You must super heat it in the kiln and let it cool slowly outside the kiln. Now the carbide is carbon and you can work with it. When the knife is shaped, you reheat it and cool it quickly in old auto oil. This will throw a flame so us caution and keep a fire ext. handy. This will reharden the carbon to carbide making one hell of a strong blade. Otherwise the price of the right steel can get pricy.
