go amd and buy ASROCK EXTREME 3 MOBO(USB 3.0./SATA 3.0./ESATA 3.0)
buy an PHENOM X6 and overclock it to 4.0ghz, buy an ATI card and overclock it, buy fast DDR3 memory, then overclock the integrated HD4290 card by 50%, the 128MB sideport memory from 667 to 1333MHz(another 50%) then turn on HYBRID CROSSFIRE: and this integrated overclocked card will add u power to your discrete card. And u have extreme gaming/multimedia PC for a buck...

yep and what grpahic card u have? coz if u have the 4870 or 4890 but D phenom one u will have an AMD dragon system :P

@acethebunny you saying that A790GHM and Phenom II X2 550 [3.1GHz] and 4 gigs of ram I could play gta 4 with around 20-30 fps
if you have enough free time to give me a better config for around 400$ I would appreciate it very much (cuz Imma newbie in computing:)

I have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ @ 2.6ghz, with Windows Vista and a NVidia MCP61 chipset (with GF8500GT) chipset.
it runs absolutely mint I even get a rating of 5.0 for Aero and 5.3 for gaming in 3D
so I dont have to upgrade soon. I can play Crysis at High without lag

I love my AMD 790GX north bridge with ATI SB750 south bridge.
the only thing holding me back is a Athlon X2 5800+ :| need to get a phenom

they're comparing it on the same price point. they're saying, on that same price point, you can get better (triple core on amd, and 2 core on intel)
