Here is one of the best deals out there for network security. The free Open Source Untangle Network Gateway Version 6. This product comes in two versions, for smaller networks, and a more robust server version. I recommend you check it out! Distributed by Tubemogul.

  • I've been looking for something like this for a long time. I've dabbled with snort since version 2.0, but only in a Windows context in IDS mode. I've wanted a free IPS solution for the longest and untangle's IPS looks like what the doc ordered. I'm trying to log/block IM protocols, primarily YMSG, but can't seem to get any rules to trigger. I've tested the same rule on Snort in IDS mode and it logs fine. What gives? Do you have experience with this scenario?

  • This software is awesome.
