Simon grew up surrounded by cantorial, classical and operatic music influenced by his grandfather Chazan and Rabbi Eliezer Spector Z"L and under the direction of his father, Stanley Cohen in London.

Simons cantorial heritage also dates back to his great-grandfather who taught Pinchik in Zhivitoff.

Simon has a powerful, flexible lyric tenor voice with a brilliant and exciting tone, extending across a wide tonal and dynamic spectrum.
In both Synagogue and on stage his voice reveals instinctive musical sensitivity as well as a deep understanding of the text.

Simon made Aliyah and married in 1995 and is presently living in Raanana with his wife Nechamah and their 3 children.
Simon Cohen studied at the Tel Aviv Cantorial Institute under the world renowned Cantor Naftali Herstik, Cantor Chaim Feifal and pianist composer Raymond Goldstein.

He officiates as a Chazzan in Europe, the United States and in prestigious Synagogues across Israel.

He also continues to perform with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Dr Mordechai Sobol as part of the famous Yuval concerts and he performed recently with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Elli Jaffe in Jerusalem as well as performing in numerous concerts in Israel, New York, Miami, Budpaest and Istanbul.

החזן סיימון כהן

החזן סיימון כהן נולד וגדל בלונדון בסביבה של חזנות ומוסיקה קלאסית, אליהם נחשף כבר מסבו הרב-החזן אליעזר ספקטור ז"ל וכן מאביו סטנלי כהן שיח', זמר אופרה מקצועי. הגנים "החזניים" של סיימון הולכים עוד הרבה אחורה בדורות.

סיימון התחתן ועלה לארץ בשנת 1995 וכיום מתגורר ברעננה עם אשתו נחמה ושלושת ילדיהם.

סיימון ניחן בקול טנור לירי, עוצמתי וגמיש עם טונים מרגשים בעלי ספקטרום רחב.
קולו של סיימון מגלה אינסטינקטים מוסיקליים רגישים תוך הבנה עמוקה של הטקסט, הן על גבי בימות קונצרטים כמו גם כבעל תפילה בבתי כנסת.
החזן כהן הנו בוגר "המכון לחזנות בתל אביב" אשר העשיר את עולמו המוסיקאלי והחזני של סיימון ע"י טובי המורים ובינהם ע"י החזן העולמי נפתלי הרשטיק, חיים פייפל והמלחין והפסנתרן ריימונד גולדשטיין.

ההנאה הגדולה ביותר של סיימון הנה להופיע ביחד עם בנו יונתן (11) ילד הסופרנו וכן עם אביו בעל קול באס עשיר כ"טריו", כששלושתם יחד מביאים ייחוד של שלושה דורות בעלי שלושה קולות המשתלבים יחד בהרמוניה מושלמת. השילוב הנ"ל הוכיח את עצמו בהופעות רבות של השלושה ברחבי העולם.

לסיימון רזומה עשיר של הופעות מגוונות בכל העולם וביניהם טקס יום השואה באיסטנבול, הופעה בפני אלפי אנשים בבודפשט, שבתות חזנות בניו יורק וכן הופעות רבות ברחבי אירופה, מיאמי, שיקגו, מונטריאול, ניו יורק ועוד.
גם בארץ הופיע סיימון בבתי כנסת רבים וכן על גבי בימות שונות בכל רחבי הארץ, לרבות על בימת היכל התרבות בתל אביב בליווי הסימפוניה הפילהרמונית הישראלית בניצוחו של מאסטרו ד"ר מרדכי סובול והסימפונית הירושלמית בניצוחו של מאסטרו אלי יפה

This has to be the best and most moving rendition of the Prayer of Kel Mole Rachamim for the Holocaust victims,  I have heard.

The choir sound remarkably good considering there are only four of them.

His voice opens my heart and touches my soul.

I heard him this week singing with the Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra, he was outstanding..

His voice has so much fire and passion in this recording of Kel Mole Rachamim, in the concert he sang with completely different energy of warmth, electricity and love.
