@TransitWeather That is correct. The last two I know of are here in Cary and Hoffman Estates. Both had been taken down about 10 years ago for about a year. I would believe that was done for maintenance and service work. I have lived in Cary since I was 6 (1986) and the siren has always been here.

Where exactly is this siren? I've been trying to find an ALLERTOR in the burbs before they all go the way of my beloved Thunderbolt 1000T

I don't know.. I have to say these are one of the coolest looking sirens of them all. Only the Thunderbolt sounds better but I LOVE the nostalgia of the smaller Darbys or Sterling Verts.

@1thumpasaurus This one is actually located near the train station in downtown Cary. its on the corner of Jandus and Cary St south of 14 and main st. Latitude, Longitude: 42.207938050621536, -88.23990225791931. There are at least two others im aware of including one on 72 near =hoffman estates and another i cant remember off the top of my head at this moment (gonna have to check my info later when i get the chance to find the town and locale) -erik
