My continuing look back at the James Bond series. George Lazenby takes over the role of 007 for one outing and Connery is lured back for one more go.

Hey, everyone has their own personal taste when it comes to Bond films. Fans have their own favorites, their own preferences and their own ideas of what a Bond film should be. Which ones succeeded and which ones failed. While one fan might rank one as their favorite, another fan could rank it as the worst. So feel free to chime in with your thoughts, but please try to keep it above a third grade level and be respectful of other Bond Fans opinions.

This review series will continue with - Part 3: The Roger Moore Era

  • I saw OHMSS some months ago and was amazed to find out it is actually one of the best Bond films ever. It rightfully has a lot of fans. Lazenby was pretty average but had they had another more experienced actor I have little doubt OHMSS would have been seen as the best Bond film ever.

Rather than making Connery come back and reluctantly do Diamonds are forever, I would have prefered Lazenby got to do that one.

  • Very short look at Lazenby....

I think he's very underrated, I attribute him being received badly because he only did 1 film and it was in-between two Connery films.

  • In Diamonds are Forever, why did the two astronauts on the Moon surface mock-up still move in slow motion when Connery runs past. It's not just that the suits are bulky, they're moving as if the gravity is all wrong.

  • Lazenby was a great Bond, although his oneliners deliveries were terrible:

    "He's branched off"

"This never happened to the other fella"

    And the worst one:

    "He had lots of guts"

  • This movie and "Diamonds are Forever" had no gadjets.

  • I thought that George Lazenby was a pretty good Bond. OHMSS I think is one of the best Bond films as well.

Diamonds are Forever was okay, I do enjoy the film, but it is definitely not one of the best ones.

  • too bad Jeremy Brett didn't get the role of Bond in this movie :(

  • Err check your geography Wales and Scotland are part of Britain or is Britain another name for England in the atlases you have. If you mean Daniel is the only Bond that is English then read the books as Bond is Scottish

  • @TheTizerChief Daniel Craig is the only one who is british of all the Bond, the other ones are from Wales, Scottland, and Irish

  • While I totally agree that Connery was phoning it in with Diamonds are Forever, I still find it to be a really enjoyable movie. Provided you go into it thinking it's going to be silly as all get out.

That being said, DAF with Lazenby set as a revenge piece would have been epic. One of the great "what ifs" in movie history, I think.
