I've had the fan come on a few times and here's what worked for me:
Turn off the mac, unplug all cords, wait a minute and then plug everything back in and turn the mac back on. or
Turn off the mac and zap the PRAM by holding down the "P" "R" and command and option keys while you restart the computer. Keep holding the keys down until you hear 3 chimes.
HTH!

Maybe it's dirty... My five year old Mini was cleaned out last year, and the fan never comes on anymore...

They are just jealous because we are so ahead of the curve!

Sometimes I'm the busy one and don't have time to connect with anyone. I'm three days behind on watching videos today because I was busy and now I feel lost...

I've given up a long time ago trying to stay on top of videos. A lot less stressful that way! :)

I consider it a challenge :)

The fan on my Mac only comes on on rare occasions like when I'm compressing videos using ImovieHD06 or when I'm importing a CD to iTunes... If you close down everything except the one program you're using (I have three web browsers open right now and it's quiet) the fan should not come on...

I've tried everything with the iMac, and the fan just keeps kicking in. Even closing everything else down. Who know. It IS almost 4 years old!
