Radio traffic from the Pacific Tsunami threat on the morning of the 30th September.
At the time civil defence had issued a warning to east coast areas of New Zealand that there was a potential Tsunami threat after an 8.3 magnitude earthquake hit the Islands of Samoa. The Fire Service and Police responded to evacuate homes and clear onlookers from beaches and shore lines around the Eastern North Island.
The Result
The Threat was reduced late morning on the 30th after no Tsunami eventuated for New Zealand with the biggest wave being recorded in Whangarei, being only 50cm.
Sadly Western Samoa, Samoa and surrounding Islands did not fear as well.
Although the title does say NZ Fire service some audio has come from other channels and agencies but fire audio makes up the majority. I originally wanted to include more police audio but they got preoccupied with a threatening to kill job where AOS were required in the Far North at the same time and that took up the majority of there airtime.
Channels in the Audio
*Northland Fire VHF (linked with Waikato and Bay of Plenty Channels)
*Auckland UHF Fire 1
*Northland Police (shared with Fire Brigades in the Far North)
*CB UHF channels 12 and 16 (civil defence heard transmitting on them)
