My ride on Amtrak #91 Silver Star

On 01-11-2010, I took the train from Tampa FL to Hollywood FL. I heard the next day this consist hit a boxcar door from an adjacent train causing damage to several cars.

From NARPRAIL.org:
Amtraks northbound Silver Star experienced severe damage on January 12 when a loose boxcar door on a passing CSX freight train became airborne after striking the engines, tearing off 20 feet of the roof of the then-unoccupied dining car. Amtrak reported no injuries.

The diners insulation and pipes were exposed and an emergency window caved in. Three other cars suffered minor damage. The incident happened while the Star was stopped on a double-track segment near Boulogne, Fla.

It took more than 24 hours before Amtrak was able to get the car on a side track north of Folkston, Ga.

The info is wrong...it didnt take us no where near that long to set the car off. After it was all said and done....about 4hrs.

Awesome video! How does a train hit a boxcar door though? That doesn't seem possible since the doors don't open outward.
