ANTIGUA - IT ONLY GETS BETTER...

The place where it is always fantastic & warm [80 degrees Fahrenheit] with people with a sunny smile [NO rheumatism & Arthritis here as in the damp, cold, windy weather of the UK!]
The place with 365 (stunning) beaches [one for you!]
The place which has amazing "julie" mangoes & "black" pineapples - BEST in the World...

The clip starts with a "Royal Salute" welcome from HM Governor General...
HE Dame Louise LAKE-TACK GCMG, DStJ DCN
[the wise approachable likeable learned lady in law who should be seen if any government employee seeks sensible advice...she has a disabled daughter she takes with her, so she can understand what ordinary people have to go through - she is totally unlike any other Governor -General - she is extremely understanding of the most vulnerable in Antigua - the elderly, the disabled, the unfortunate children whose parents are unable to look after them, where the children are obliged to live in a public sector home, the imprisoned, the abused - if you seek help... approach her... she detests any person abusing others...]

...looking forward to welcome you to the beautiful tropical paradise of Antigua & Barbuda... where familiar English is spoken...

The British Queen is represented in Antigua and Barbuda on a day-to-day basis by the Governor-General. She is appointed by The Queen on the advice of the PM of Antigua and Barbuda and is completely independent of the British Government. The Governor General is head of State yet some of the Government & many of the Opposition are ignorant of law & do NOT seem to realise that the law puts the Governor General & her alone in charge of all Government functions!

The Queen maintains direct contact with HE the Governor-General, although she delegates executive power to the Governor-General in virtually every respect.

On the smaller island of BARBUDA is a small airport and a large bird reserve with Frigate birds in abundance...

Christopher COLUMBUS discovered ANTIGUA on November 11, 1493, when he sighted an island to the east as he was sailing past Redonda [a substantial volcanic island owned by Antigua & Barbuda] and named the island he saw " Santa Maria la ANTIGUA" meaning "St. Mary the OLD". History had then begun!

In the Antigua and Barbuda flag the star/sun combination represents the dawning of a new era. The red represents the energy of the people and the blue symbolizes hope. The African ancestry of the people is represented by the black. The sun, sand and sea are represented by the flag's combination of yellow blue and white.

The current flag was adopted on February 27, 1967 after it became a self governing country. Antigua and Barbuda gained independence from Britain in 1981. Antigua and Barbuda had been a British colony since 1632.

ANTIGUA is a stopover for cruiseships & yachts.
It is known for its SAILING Week; FISHING; SUBAQUA DIVING; CRICKET; its STEEL BANDS & its excellent MARKETS complement all the usual shops amongst the brightly painted buildings.

The fast launch featured here - ADVENTURE ANTIGUA XTREME - regularly goes to BARBUDA where picnics & barbecues are the order of the day.

[Christopher COLUMBUS declared "Santa Maria la ANTIGUA" (meaning "St Mary the OLD") to be the patron Saint of Panama].

Some very well known US & UK personalities have homes on Antigua... once there, you will not want to leave...

Antigua Independence Day (1st November 1981) 2011 = 30 years
[21 November 2011 = Meeting of all Governors-General in Jamaica]
Should any ANTIGUAN be PARDONED?
Should any ANTIGUAN be invested with a KNIGHTHOOD?
Contact HM Governor-General & explain why...
She wants to hear from YOU!
She NEEDS your FEEDBACK - ALL THE TIME!
She NEEDS your SUPPORT!

[Oprah WINFREY has a home in Antigua - which gets her vote. She said that: "when she wants crystal-clear Caribbean water and perfect palm trees, she returns to her (so-called) playground on ANTIGUA".
Georgio ARMANI has a home in Antigua
Silvio BERLUSCONI has a home in Antigua
The SAINSBURYs have a home in Antigua
Eric CLAPTON has a home in Antigua
Timothy DALTON has a home in Antigua
Many very wealthy US citizens have a home in Antigua
Many people have a yacht in one of the sheltered harbours
Yet the place is not like Barbados - Antigua has an olde worlde charm all of its own!]

Antigua has an annual calender that includes Sailing Week, Classic Yacht Regatta & annual Carnival; Caribbean's Greatest Summer Festival Island.

  • Nelson’s Dockyard is the Georgian fort commissioned by the British in 1755. Betty’s Hope, built in 1674, the site of the first full-scale sugar plantations on Antigua, offers a chance to step back in time. Devil’s Bridge, where Atlantic breakers carved out a natural limestone arch is also worth a visit.

Antigua is noted for its Cricket, it's Carnival, it's Cruising and it's Caribbean fishing with friends...

If you haven't been to ANTIGUA you haven't LIVED...

  • With INDEPENDENCE DAY coming up (1st November 2011) - who should be invested with a Knighthood (a "K")?

Who should receive a PARDON from the Governor-General?

WRITE to her to let her know!!!

She is YOUR Governor-General... (after all!)
