Just a run in an old defrag map ported to quake live to see how fast I could get on the speedometer ( speedometer 1 )

Defrag maps for QL
This thread is about custom maps created for QL with the purpose to train movement. Also a while ago [boon]Combo made the effort to convert maps from Q3 Defrag. Theese can be found here: http://www.boon-clan.de/index.php?c=d. Spakk converted some Freestylemaps, read more here. However i do think because these maps were made for VQ3/CPM physics they not fit good to train in Quake Live.

How to install(windows):
First make sure the files are set read-only, otherwise QL will delete them. Then put them in your main baseq3 folder, the one that contains all other QL maps. Path should be something like Harddrive:\Users\Yourname\AppData\LocalLow\id Software\quakelive\baseq3
(Appdata is a hidden folder so make sure u can see it).

How to play:
Start a practisegame(for maps with flags CTF) open console, type /map mapname for example /map raztrainql_beta3, have fun.

You were traveling at over 4650 units/second in that vid. 8 units = 1 foot. That means you were traveling at ~355 m/s, meaning you broke the sound barrier.

All maps editors I know have a grid to create the blocks (walls, water, ceiling etc). I think a "unit" (the speed is calculated in "unit per second") is the length of the sides of the smallest squares in the grid.

Maybe you can use the glitch in map Quarantine to get some speed? see what happens :D

@tenijosh How is it Fake? You can play Custom Maps On Quake live but only with bots you have to add the maps also
