westie a wash and shave is very bad for the skin

My boys groomer was not the best Westie cutter however, she took him in immediately and didn't put him in a crate. He was in an out within two hours. She wasn't a "mass produced" groomer and I must give her many thanks for that. One dog at a time in a calm enviornment. I would take that any day over the groomers that took over 8 hours to groom my baby.

its your dog and your choice but you really should keep the skirt on a westie

1:22 your dog is sounds like he is saying "This is torture, HELP!" Awww. Well anyway I'm getting paid tomorrow, and some of my money is going to my pup's new hair cut! She is a Maltese/Shih-tzu mix! So adorable when I can see her face! Instead of looking like a shaggy dog! Lol! Its amazing how small she is without all that hair! Can't wait!

My God! Is that a Westie???? Horrible cut. Poor dog...

his head looks so big with no skirt!

I don't get the westie cut on mine anymore cause he still has a lot of hair on him and the fact that his hair grows FAST is something I don't like. So when I get his hair cut he looks EXACTLY like the dog in this clip. How cute they are :)

Yeah it's not a Westie cut, BUT maybe it's what the customer wanted. I'm a groomer and have received all sorts of odd requests for hairdo's on the dogs. Not everyone wants a correct breed cut. A lot of people want Westies, Cockers, etc. shaved because they get "too dirty" if they have a skirt. Some people want their dogs (especially terriers and shih tzus) to have very short beards. In the end, groomers have to do what the customer wants, even if it's not a "correct" breed cut.
That is the worst cut I have ever seen on a westie. No skirt, and far too shor.t

Please dont take this the wrong way groomers who do their westie customers like this, as a pro groomer i was educated to bath and blow a westie before a clip/trim. also using that size slicker after a short cut like this can leave brush burn, u should only really use a comb and a pin brush for finishing the westie. Spanielmom demonstrates the correct way, i have always used that technique.
Sorry if i was offensive but im not keen on this short cut as sunburn can be harmful. x
