I agree w the prev. post-er. Miss CABALLE's singing w her peerless pianissimi/glorious tone also had awkward phrasing & uncertain pitch in this rep.& elsewhere. (even in this clip!) Her habit of truncating both text & often music to faciltate technical challenges is evident here & elsewhere - & yes, irritating to me. I often heard her LIVE & am a huge fan despite any imPERFECTIONS. At her best, & even a bit less, Miss CABALLE remains the owner of 1 of History's most beautiful voices. BRAVA!!

Creo que este aria lo compuso Verdi para una voz como la de la Caballé, así como la Ópera entera.

La interpretación es sublime y estremecedora, y los recursos de "La Superba" brilan en todo su esplendor. No me refiero sólo a los "pianisimos". Se aficiona uno a la Ópera con arias e interpretaciones como éstas.

The listener either loves Miss Caballe or doesn't. She definately has her very own style and interpretation of this, and even as she aged and forgot words, used a music stand and created her own words, it bothers me not! She is and always will be quite a musical phenomina...very much loved in her country where it's not unusual for the audience to applaude right in the middle of her aria;she then stands as a statue and waits..making no acknowledgement of the applause.BRAVO! Montsy!
