ANCHOR:
And in India this weekend, serious irony occured as two men, one famous for ear hair

STORY:
It's been a long time coming for northern India's Radhakant Bajpai. Long thought of as 'unusual' for his long ear hair, his recent induction into the Guinness Book of World Records has made him a hit with family, friends, and co-workers.

Five years ago, Bajpai's 13.2 centimeter long tufts were enough to overtake the previous record holder, B.D. Tyagi, also of India. That was then, but in the five years that followed Bajpai's ear hair kept growing, and is now over two feet long.

But it hasn't as easy as watching grass grow. Bajpai spoke of getting weird looks and being misunderstood by the general public.

[Radhakant Bajpai, Longest Ear Tufts]:
"The government is not providing any assistance and society is also apathetic. People consider sporting long hair on ears to be an act of foolishness..."

Bajpai's son Satyam also spoke of what it was like to be seen in public with his dad. Like the time they went to the college admissions office...

[Satyam Bajpai, Son of Radhakant]:
"I have never felt that ear tufts are odd because I am used to seeing them. Once I had gone to gain admission in college along with my father, people were staring, and then I realized that it was something unusual."

Also in northern India, a hairdresser in India's northern Uttar Pradesh is trying to make his mark on the Guinness book. He's trying to create a new record for the longest time of non-stop haircutting with his mouth.

It was apparently Sheikh's desire to stand out that inspired the attempt. But he's also got other aspirations. He says if he wins the record, he'll open a school dedicated to teaching people how to cut hair with their mouths.

[Ansar Sheikh, Mouth Hairdresser]:
"If I'm successful in this attempt by the grace of god then I will open a training centre in Azamgarh District to impart free hair cutting training to visually challenged and specially abled people and we will give them a certificate stating that they are trained as hair stylist."

But no word yet on whether he'll teach a class on how to cut ear hair.
