@keke208 not all old hymns have "correct doctrine". Take a look, there's a lot of garbage. The ones that have stuck are the good ones. Same thing will happen with modern Choruses in 50 years.

So glad Christy did this song! This is a powerful hymn that should not be soon forgotten!

@LivinSoTex - The difference is that hymns are focused on our adoration of God and "praise songs" are focused on what God can do for us. Our focus and worship direction has changed. Perhaps it is the younger generations (of which I am one) that don't understand the hymns and the purpose of giving all we are and have to God in worship.

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (May 8, Easter 3), we sang this as our closing hymn. It is #858 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
Hehe, not all of the old hymns are full of good doctrine, just like newer songs, but certainly the great (and sound) ones like this continue to persevere! Some of the best songs of our newer generation will join this as 'good old songs' in the future.

@earnestfantin not sure what you are basing this on, but this generation worships Jesus with serious passion. it's just a little louderthan it used to be. ;)
