salieri becomes a more fascinating composer with each work of his that i discover. such a shame that unfounded rumors ruined his reputation.

Of course, mozart had to leave under the shadow of Mozart......but clearly Salieri is better than Mozart...alwais!

Wow, lavich with dramatic moments throughout, and of course occasionally "big bang" for the audience (to wake them for the begining of opera) - Phenomenal!!!!
(it is incoherent on moments but it was regular think at that time, even Mozart's Cose fan tutte ouverture has vacant moments so, why not- it is lovely anyway!)

This opera was a complete failure. However, this overture has power. I have read that this opera does much to credit Salieri...Wonder why it tanked..
