No matter what movie he was in, Spencer would play the roll as an intensely constipated man who spent all his money on booze the night before rather than Laxative. Every roll is just a severely consternated, hung over man in desperate need of a bowel movement. 02:31 to 02:45 is a good example, but there are many.

Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. I've done another clip on some old cigarette cards of 1930's movie stars: Spencer Tracy, Joan Crawford, Gary Cooper, Joan Crawford, Fay Wray from King Kong, Bing Crosby, Kay Francis and many more.
