International Day of Non-Violence is observed on October 2nd, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, a staunch advocate of non-violence and compassion towards all living beings, including animals. This date also marks World Farm Animals Day which is an annual event started by the Farm Animal Reform Movement. It was established to raise awareness of the billions of animals suffering and slaughtered in the world's factory farms.
